Our Response to Coronavirus

17th March 2020

We at Rainham Foodbank are committed to help and serve the community in whatever way we can within our capabilities.

As a foodbank, we are committed to giving out food.

In order to minimise the social contact according to government guidelines, we have decided to ask for all vouchers holders to:

  • email us by scanning in the voucher for a client.

We can action it and contact the client accordingly to collect their food at the door. In order to contact the client, we would need their TELEPHONE NUMBER.  This is essential if this system is to work.

If the client does come to the door with a red voucher, we will take it in at the door along with a relevant TELEPHONE NUMBER and call them to collect the parcel when ready. We realise that this may be cumbersome, but in the light of the restrictions and our duty of care to the volunteers too, we have to put this strategy into place.

We are, at present, working hard at pre-packing the food parcels in order to simplify the giving of food parcels.

We are also concerned about those who are old, lonely and isolated because of illness or because they are in the vulnerable group according to the government guidelines. If you know of anyone within this category, please do let us know, and how we can help. We can deliver food directly to them.

Our clothesbank service, sewing classes and all other More than Food projects are suspended for the time being in the light of the current crisis.

Please do let us know how we can be of help, should help be needed. Email us to let us know at [email protected] or call 07367 335970/01708 397484.
