Our Volunteer at the Top, Pastor Peter

5th June 2020

Pastor Peter was given the vision to serve the community of South Hornchurch as he was looking for ways to serve the community. He established Rainham Foodbank in 2011 alongside volunteers like Pastor Bob and Mary Bain and Janet Grovesnor who is still serving today. He saw the need, investigated the issues in the community and was led to start Rainham Foodbank.

Pastor has worked zealously and with a keen passion to eliminate social isolation, loneliness, lack of skill, homelessness and of course, the lack of food at the end of a day in the community. He has worked tirelessly and with an absolutely keen focus on ensuring that each and every Foodbank user who walks through the doors of Rainham Foodbank never walks out without their needs being met – there is no need that is too small or too big for Pastor, if it is within his purview to help.

Pastor will listen to you, pray with you and even if he has to approach the community leaders to assure a Foodbank user of a place to live so that they are no longer homeless or a plate of food to eat, Pastor will do so.

Pastor has a heart for God and it is this heart that fuels his generosity, his desire to enable and empower, to house the homeless and feed the hungry.

Rainham Foodbank will soon have to move into new premises as the current building will be demolished while the Beam Project continues to develop. He has had to crawl and cut through layers of red tape to achieve access to the new building, and with God’s guidance and grace, it finally became real on Wednesday when he received the keys to the new premises.  Well done Pastor for never giving up, staying the course and being a role model to all of us.

Thank you for this vision that revives hope, restores dignity and transforms lives. We are blessed to be able to walk with you to achieve this.

May God continue to guide you and your vision for Rainham Foodbank and fill you with wisdom to lead us forward in this historically eventful time, both globally and for the Foodbank.

We would also like to thank Pastor’s wife Mrs Patricia Peter, and his daughter Ndiponke for supporting the time that Pastor gives to Rainham Foodbank.
